1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using refine.so ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

refine.so is an AI-powered text humanization service that transforms AI-generated content into natural, human-like writing. Your use of this Service is subject to the terms outlined below.

2. Description of Service

refine.so provides an AI text humanization service that processes your text submissions through advanced language models to make AI-generated content appear more natural and human-like.

The Service is provided on a subscription basis with different plan tiers (Free, Starter, and Pro), each with specific usage limits, rate limits, and features.

3. User Content and Ownership

You retain full ownership of all text content you submit to refine.so and all content generated by the Service. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your input or output content.

You may use the humanized content generated by our Service for any lawful purpose, including:

• Personal and commercial projects
• Client work and deliverables
• Academic and educational purposes
• Content creation and publishing

By submitting content to our Service, you represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to the content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

4. User Accounts and Security

To use the Service, you must create an account using Google OAuth. By signing in with Google, you agree to:

• Use a valid Google account for authentication
• Maintain the security of your Google account credentials
• Be responsible for all activity under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

Authentication is handled exclusively through Google's secure OAuth 2.0 system. We do not store or manage passwords.

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at support@refine.so. Deleting your refine.so account does not affect your Google account.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful or prohibited purposes. Specifically, you may not:

• Submit content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Violate intellectual property rights or any other proprietary rights
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or rate limits
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Use the Service to generate spam, malware, or harmful content
• Resell or redistribute access to the Service without authorization
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this Acceptable Use Policy.

6. Subscription Plans and Billing

Free Plan: Limited usage with rate limits and word count restrictions.

Paid Plans (Starter and Pro): Subscription fees are billed monthly through our payment provider, Polar. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay all fees associated with your selected plan
• Automatic renewal unless cancelled before the billing cycle
• Provide accurate and complete payment information
• Promptly update payment information if it changes

Usage Limits: Each plan has specific limits on words per request, words per month, and requests per hour. Exceeding these limits will result in temporary restrictions or prompts to upgrade.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. No refunds will be provided for partial months.

Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with 30 days advance notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new prices.

7. AI Output and Disclaimers

No Guarantees: While we strive to provide high-quality humanized text, we make no guarantees about the quality, accuracy, or effectiveness of the AI-generated output. The Service uses advanced AI models, but results may vary.

Detection Bypassing: We do not guarantee that content processed through our Service will bypass AI detection tools. AI detection technology is constantly evolving, and we cannot promise specific outcomes.

User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for how you use the content generated by our Service. You should review all output for accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Academic Integrity: If you use our Service for academic purposes, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with your institution's academic integrity policies and citation requirements.

8. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party providers:

• Payment Processing (Polar): Subscription billing and payment processing
• Authentication (Google OAuth 2.0): All account creation and authentication is handled through Google's OAuth system. By using our Service, you agree to comply with Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

9. Service Availability and Limitations

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Specific uptime or availability
• That defects will be corrected
• Freedom from viruses or harmful components

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with or without notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, refine.so and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
• Any bugs, viruses, or harmful code
• Any content obtained from the Service
• Any errors or omissions in any content

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, or $100, whichever is greater.

11. Account Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Violation of our Acceptable Use Policy
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of fees
• Any other reason at our sole discretion

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. You may delete your account at any time.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
